MURAL PROJECT WINNER “Espacio en blanco” contest from Espacio joven sur valladolid
Nuestro/Ours is a stairs-mural that highlights the “Espacio Joven Sur” as a meeting place for and by the youth of Valladolid.
I wanted to reflect the place as a place to think, enjoy, and develop in a supportive way with other people in a situation that, by age, may be very similar to yours. A place to come together, even if everyone is doing their own thing.
That's why i chose to show three young people, each one doing their own thing, yet in contact, but focused, enjoying, working, studying.
It shows the “Espacio Joven Sur” as a corner where you can build community, promote alternative and healthy forms of leisure, good values, and connections that can be useful on a personal and professional level.
Each person represents one of the areas worked on at the EJS: music, literature, and study. Combining the recreational with the educational, leisure with the more practical. These also represent the diversity of Valladolid's youth.
I chose bright colors to add vitality, although these are very harmonious, which generates a sense of calm and tranquility.
The background that serves as a frame represents the flow of activities at the EJS, as a place in motion, always active, offering plans for youth. A place where ideas, knowledge, culture, and cohesion can flow.
this mural aims to reference a small part of what “Espacio Joven Sur” means to this city and its young people.
